Air Museum Trip - Saturday 16th May
All cubs to arrive at the Library on Hawthorn Drive opposite the 36th Ipswich HQ (as we have a booking) by 8am in full uniform and must bring packed lunch and drink as well as sensible footwear and a coat (waterproof dependent on the weather). We should be back at the Library on Hawthorn Drive at approx. 4.15 to 4.30pm.
We’re getting closer to the day so it’s time to issue the “final briefing”. On the day those taking stage 1 (Beavers) will get to build two types of flying machine, sit in a real aeroplane and talk to a pilot, talk about the role of an aeroplane and their dream aircraft, tell others about any flying experiences that they have had, try on fighter pilot equipment and complete the museum quiz. Those on stage 2 will also build two types of flying machine and try their hand at our (more advanced) quiz plus will learn about the dangers on airfields, the different types of aircraft, learn about WW2 operations from a local airfield. All participants will get to fly EITHER a Link Trainer OR a Flight Simulator.
We start at 09:45 with a briefing (the museum gates will be open from 09:30), and finish with a group photo at 15:15. There will be a lunch break at 12:00 for 30 minutes, please bring your own lunch. There will be an opportunity to visit the museum shop which contains items from about 50p upwards. If you have anyone arriving late please get them to ring us as the gates will be closed from 09:45 to 15:15.
